Paramount and Fox Theaters

A study of the seismic capacity of the concrete and structural steel structure of the historic 1930s Paramount Theater in downtown Oakland was made in this retrofit project. Historic preservation of all finishes was required in our design of the re-support of the cast plaster panel ceiling and walls.

In support of the re-use plan for the historic Fox Theater, a seismic and structural review was performed. Another part of the work entailed the retrofit design for the marquee and blade sign. The marquee rehab included the blade sign removal, rehab of supports and the sign re-mounting. The seismic upgrade required preservation of historic elements.
